Globally and in India, the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry is undergoing a significant transformation, with hybrid conferences, digital integration, and a heightened focus on safety and sustainability gaining momentum. More flexibility is emerging through modular layouts, digital engagement, and real-time analytics, which have become key measures of success. At the same time, rapid global changes due to wars, climate risks, and health crises are pushing event organisers to adopt more agile models. They must strike a balance between immersive experiences and strong risk management to keep both physical and virtual audiences connected under all circumstances.

Risk management and insurance have become vital components of strategic planning. Event organisers should stay informed about external threats and internal hazards, including fires and cyberattacks, with comprehensive coverage for business interruption and public liability. Collaborating effectively with civic agencies to improve infrastructure and respond to real-time incidents is now standard practice. It is encouraging to see venues in India responding positively to these challenges.

Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), for example, is strengthening its safety measures on its campus. BIEC has created Expo Planner, an AI-powered collaboration platform designed to streamline communication and operations for MICE events through a centralised dashboard. It features advanced tools such as AI-driven matchmaking, meeting schedulers, online exhibitor services, lead generation tools, interactive floor plans, real-time footfall analysis, and both online and onsite registration modules with kiosks, all seamlessly integrated into a mobile app to boost engagement. The Expo Planner was successfully tested at IMTEX FORMING 2024, Pune Machine Tool Expo, FACTEQ 2024, and IMTEX 2025. Other event organisers planning to hold events at BIEC in 2026 can also avail the Expo Planner.

Moving forward, as the exhibition landscape continues to evolve, adaptability, preparedness, and innovation will define long-term success. BIEC, through its various endeavors, aims to set new benchmarks in safety and digital transformation to deliver secure, seamless, and future-ready event experiences.
